Description
You'll receive an exclusive guided tour of Lyon Arboretum. Nestled in the Valley of the Rainbows (Manoa Valley) below towering jungle trees and surrounded by seven waterfalls, this exotic rainforest is home to over 1,000 species of plants, which bathe in the fragrant mists produced by over 185 inches of rainfall every year. As you explore the 200-acre garden, colorful blossoms, including bromeliads, hibiscus and orchids, surround you while tropical birds sing nearby. Your nature guide will provide accurate information about the garden's interesting history and efforts to save some of the most rare plants in the world. After departing the Arboretum you'll visit the picturesque Chinese Great Ancestors Mound perched high on a grass-covered hill below Pu'u Pia. Traveling throughout the historic valley, you will learn about the fascinating local history and mythology. You'll then visit Pu'u Laka'a, located 1,048 feet above Waikiki. From this lofty vantage point you have a breathtaking 180-degree panoramic view of Oahu's scenic southeast coastline and sometimes a glistening double rainbow arching across the Valley of the Rainbows far below. I loved this tour. It was a great learning experience, saw beautiful tress and plants. Our guide was GREAT! Very nice and helpful. I wish I could remember his name. (Gary?). I would do this again because there was so much to learn!

First of all, you should call this a hike not a tour. If a person is willing to walk, you will be rewarded with a beautiful tour of the Lyon Arboretum. The guide/ driver was a pleasant person who obviously liked what he was doing....More
