A very enjoyable hike but you need to be fairly fit to complete the hike as it is uphill all the way, on very uneven ground, and after a very long climb, you then have nearly 300 steps to climb to reach the summit. Fantastic views from the top and well worth the climb.

Hiking Trip to Diamond Head

I signed up my son-in-law and two grandsons, 13 and 10, for this hike. The grandsons balked at doing it but as the time neared, they were sort of resigned to it. Well, they really liked it, stating that they didn't need flashlights in the lava tube and that the hike was easy. My son-in-law shot footage of the view at the top of Diamond Head and the trip turned out to be a great experience for all three. I also had requested that the three be dropped off at the Beachcomber Hotel near the International Market instead of at our resort. The bus driver was more than accommodating and this worked beautifully so all of our family could shop and eat downtown. Thanks to all. A great value for this activity!

This was our first trip to Hawaii and this was one of our favorite activities. We had a small group of 4 couples, so you were not waiting forever for everyone to catch up all the time. We love to hike and this was a great workout. Our guide Lisa was great. We really enjoyed her, she was very informative of the history of the Islands and Diamond Head. I recommend the early morning hike and make sure you take the water they offer. Even early in the morning it starts to warm up. Lisa was very good about stopping to let us take pictures and making sure everyone in the group was staying together. What a fantastic view from the top.

We really loved the walk itself, but having Joseph for our guide made it all the more enjoyable. He told us a lot about the islands that we would never have known as well as answered questions which pertained to our entire trip. You cannot imagine the view until you are actually there.

Diamond Head Hike

This is a great activity for anyone who likes the outdoors and is new to the island. Our guide was amazing! He stopped at certain points to make sure the group was together, take photos of people and to explain the formation and history of Diamond Head. One word of caution, if you are uncomfortable in tight, dark places climbing to the very top may not be for you. Also, bring cash because you will be hungry by the time you get down and there is a great hot dog stand at the bottom.

Diamond Head Crater Tour

We sent my parents to Oahu for their 50th wedding anniversary. One of the tours they chose was Diamond Head. They are 70 years old and the tour was a great accomplishment for them. They were the oldest on the tour; it was a difficult climb for them. But they persevered and absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED the tour guide. He made it all worthwhile, they said.
