Maui Ocean Center

All marine life at the center is indigenous or endemic to Hawaii. Hawaii's ocean is showcased in over 60 self-paced interactive exhibits where marine animals live in habitats closely resembling their own natural environments.

Exhibits:

• The Living Reef – journey through the Island's rugged shoreline to the deep open sea.
• Turtle Lagoon – see Hawaii's native green, hawksbill and leatherback turtles.
• The Discovery Pool – visit with sea stars, sea urchins, mollusks, sea cucumbers and maybe even a hermit crab.
• Stingray Cove – watch stingrays and eagle rays glide through the water.
• Whale Discovery Center – learn about the magnificent Humpback Whales and their annual migration from Alaska to the warm waters off Maui, where they mate and bear their calves.
• The Open Ocean – discover Hawaii's creatures of the night like the squirrelfishes, bigeyes, hawkfishes and whitetipped sharks sharing their home with encrusting sponges, crabs and lobsters. And, in the light of day, discover the rapid swimming predators, both large and small – the jacks, pennant and pyramid butterflyfishes and blacktip sharks. Also enjoy the beautiful and fascinating jellyfishes.
• Reef Café – enjoy take-away sandwiches, salads and ice cream.
• Seascape Restaurant – enjoy dramatic panoramic vistas of the Pacific Ocean, majestic Haleakala and the scenic South Maui coastline while dining on exquisite cuisine, exceptionally prepared and served.
• Retail Store – discover not only the widest assortment of ocean-themed toys, music, logo wear, books, Hawaiiana, home décor, art works, fine jewelry and more; but also rare museum pieces.
