Your adventure begins by kayak on the beautiful and historic Hule'ia River, an area that is most popularly known as a filming site for the movies Raiders of the Lost Ark and Jurassic Park!

Paddle 2 miles deep into the heart of the Kauai island jungle, through the Hule'ia National Wildlife Refuge, till the river begins to shallow. See the living archeological site called Alekoko, a fishpond preserving the fishing and aquiculture methods of the ancient Hawaiians.

Keep your eye out for some of the rare and endangered water birds that are indigenous to Hawaii and sustained in this refuge. The area is steeped in myths and legends, and your guides will share exciting stories about the supernatural inhabitants of the valley in days gone by.

Kayaks are left behind while you set out on a 1.5 mile round trip guided nature walk further into this pristine tropical rainforest and observe the many other communities of plants, birds, and aquatic life, both native and introduced.

Stop along the way at swimming holes with rope swings before reaching your destination; Hidden Valley Falls, a captivating series of pool-drop waterfalls cascading over black lava rock. Swim, refresh yourself, enjoy the scenery for a while, and then return to the river for a fun and relaxed trip back aboard a double-hulled and powered canoe.
