Scuba diving was amazing! No prior experience necessary. If you know how to inhale through your mouth, you're good to go! Way cooler than snorkeling!
I give two thumbs up to Doug, Bob, and James. They were fantastic, fun, friendly, and informative.
Doug provided me with the pool training at the Hilton and he was very patient and easy to understand. Bob was my instructor in the open water dive and he was also very patient and careful. James chartered the yacht.
The yacht itself was very lovely and I liked the fact that Bob and James really made it feel like it was our boat. I remember Bob saying that 'this boat is your boat, make yourself at home' and it really showcased what fantastic people they were.
On the actual dive (~40 ft), we got to see a wide variety of things such as an octopus inking, lobsters, tons of fish, an eel, a shell-slug thing that ate the sea anenome that Bob fed it, and tons of coral. We even dived in black sand, which was really cool. When we came out of the water, we had fruit, cookies, and water to drink. In between dives, we got to also tan for a bit as we made our way to the second dive destination. We also went whale-watching for a little bit, as we were lucky enough to come across a mommy humpback swimming with her baby. That was REALLY cool.
I highly recommend this activity. It was definitely a memorable trip for me and though I was very scared in the beginning, that fear went away soon after and a sense of adventure swept over. When you go, feel free to ask Bob plenty of questions about marine life as he has a bunch of stories to tell and is very knowledgeable about marine life.
