Description
Explore the underwater world of one of the most geographically isolated places on earth, Hawaii, with Red Sail Sports.

Quick View

Location: Kohala, West Hawaii
Time: Morning/Afternoon
Duration: 4/2hrs
Available: Daily
Transportation: R/T from some Kohala hotels

Hawaii is one of the most geographically isolated places on earth –– 2,000 miles from the nearest major land mass. An amazing 30 percent of the state's marine animals are found nowhere else in the world. The 500 plus native underwater life include: giant sea turtles, moray eels, eagle rays, raccoon butterfly fish, the Hawaiian turkeyfish, and several species of scorpion and trigger fish.

The Big Island's Kohala Coast offers some of the best diving in the Hawaiian Islands. The water along the coast is clear year-round, often exceeding 100-foot visibility, with ocean temperatures ranging from 72 degrees in the winter to 80 degrees in the summer. The Big Island is still growing, thanks to the world's most active volcano, Kilauea. As a result, the Kohala Coast is dominated by intricate lava flows, tunnels and crevices, and offers steep drop-offs close to shore, 150-foot lava tubes, tunnels, crevices, and the world's largest tiger cowries.

The Boat:

The 'Lani Kai' ("Heavenly Seas") is Red Sail Sports' 38-foot Delta Dive boat, designed in the United States for operation in the Pacific. The boat, which comfortably accommodates up to 18, was designed with a diver's needs and comfort in mind. It is equipped with a spacious dive platform, restroom facilities, fresh water showers and fresh water buckets.

Please choose from following courses:

  • Hawaii Resort Course: Learn the basics of diving in one day and discover the beauty of Hawaii's underwater world under the guidance of one of our professional instructors. The course includes a one-hour pool session, two-tank boat dive, plus all equipment and instruction. The theory session teaches students the basic rules for scuba diving, such as stabilizing ear pressure, breathing on scuba, and how to use the equipment. The dive boat goes to a shallow reef and an instructor will accompany the student at all times underwater. The dive is approximately 30-45 minutes long and goes to a maximum of depth of 40 feet. *The first day of the training will be a one-hour pool session, and the second day will be a two-tank boat dive.
  • Two Tank Dive: A daily variety of boat dives are available for CERTIFIED DIVERS ONLY.

Location: Anaeho'omalu Bay, Kohala Coast, West Hawaii
