Kamakahonu, the significant historic site where the Island Breeze Luau is presented, is surely unique to all of Hawai'i. It was at this very place that Kamehameha the Great, Hawai'i's king who conquered and united all the Hawaiian Islands in the early 1800s, made his home and headquarters ruling all of the Islands. The now restored Ahu'ena Heiau - the ancient sacred temple and the final resting place of Kamehameha the Great is adjacent to the luau grounds. Here King Kamehameha worshiped his gods and sought the advice of his generals and advisors.

Be introduced to the Island Breeze Luau Ohana (Family) with a shell lei greeting and a picture taken with one of your gorgeous greeters. Take on some interactive ancient Polynesian arts and crafts demonstrations and meet the talented cast of performers that you will later see on stage. Kilikini has the canoe filled with delicious Mai Tais, fruit punch for the family and an open bar.

Take in the sounds of the Court Conch Herald and Court Chanter at you witness the Royal Court procession, representing King Kamehameha I and his retainers arriving in the regalia of the traditional outrigger canoe at the beautiful Kamakahou Bay. Follow this process into the Royal Grounds and witness the uncovering of the Imu, the traditional Hawaiian underground oven. See what world-famous tasty island treat awaits your hungry palette!

Surely the highlight of the evening is the spectacular Island Breeze Polynesian Revue. From the Fijian and Maori dances of war to the gracefulness of Hawaiian hula hands, you will see Polynesia's traditions and mythologies brought to life. Their daring Samoan Fire knife dancer further highlights your experience with an astonishing demonstration of bravery and skill! Comprised of performers from across Polynesia, the authenticity of Island Breeze is matched only by the spirit of Aloha they share with their audience.

The Luau Schedule

  • 5:00pm - Shell lei greeting, photo taking, hosted seating, arts & crafts, Imu ceremony

  • 5:30pm - Open Bar

  • 6:00pm - Torch-lighting, Royal Court Arrival

  • 6:30pm - Luau dinner buffet

  • 7:15pm - Island Breeze Polynesian Revue

  • 7:30pm - Open Bar Close

  • 8:30pm - Luau ends

*The morning of the luau, guests may view the placing of the pig in the Imu (underground oven) at 9:30am at the luau site.

Guests will be seated on a first-come first-served basis. However, you may upgrade your reservation to include Reserved Front Row Seating, allowing you to bypass the General Seating line at the gate. Reserved Front Row Seating offers being first in line for the buffet dinner, and a 10% discount at the luau gift shop. At the time of check-in notify an Island Luau Representative and upgrade for $15 for Adults and $10 for Children. This may not be booked in advance.
