Hakalau is the only National Wildlife Refuge in the country established for forest birds with an incredible density of endemic birds. The Pua Akala tract you'll access is not open to the public and Hawaii Forest & Trail is the only on-island company with a permit. The endangered Akepa is one bird you'll see here that you won't see on the Rainforest and Dry Forest Adventure.
